Forgotten Heroes realizes that too many hospitalized veterans do not have family nor do they receive many visitors, and its mission is to recognize and honor these heroes and to show our country’s gratitude for their service. Forgotten Heroes also sponsors entertainment tours around the world to lift the moral and spirit of Americans service men and women serving on US military bases.

Forgotten Heroes also sponsors the promotion of honoring American Armed Forces by supporting US based museums and education programs promoting the spirit of the American Dream provide over the centuries by American Armed Forces, the true forgotten heroes.

Forgotten Heroes is the force behind the creation of the American Hero Museum.

This is accomplished by:

• Visiting and providing entertainment on a regular basis, often one-on-one in the patient’s room
• Improving the veteran’s quality of life by way of upgrading their rooms with paintings, wall treatments, flowers, etc.
• Facilitating a letter-writing program within the local schools, giving America’s youth an opportunity to show their
gratitude to those who have sacrificed themselves for our freedom.
• Sponsoring overseas and domestic tours of US military bases in conjunction with Armed Forces Entertainment,
private sponsors and The USO.
• By helping to create the American Hero Museum and supporting other museums honoring American military heroes.

Who We Are

Forgotten Heroes was formed by Joe Cantafio, a well-known local recording musical artist and Robert Kolling, a decorated Vietnam combat veteran.

Joe and his band, the 101st Rock Division, have traveled throughout U.S. bases in the Middle East performing for the brave soldiers of America and the Coalition Forces in Iraq who preserve the world’s freedom and liberate the oppressed. Joe also formed the "Let Freedom Sing" tour that traveled coast-to-coast along with the firefighters from New York’s Engine Co. 55 to raise funds following the September 11th tragedy.

Robert has been a veteran’s advocate for over 30 years, traveling around the country supporting veterans causes. Having been wounded in Vietnam and needing a liver transplant as a result of multiple blood transfusions in 1969, he has dedicated his life to helping those veterans and their families that are less fortunate.
